I am fortunate to live in the Pacific Northwest, where there are many beautiful and interesting places to explore and photograph: the Northern Cascades, San Juan Islands, British Columbia, Vancouver Island -- and Alaska is a wonderful two day ferry-ride from my hometown. I also travel around the US, and to other countries, camera and lenses in hand.
The capture of an image itself, though, is merely the start of the creative process. I agree with the American photographer Garry Winogrand, who said that the photograph should be more interesting or more beautiful that what was photographed. This is the goal I strive for when I develop and print images.
